Unloading Barge at Wharf

This team, with the driver riding a two wheel "truck", was used as hauling power for the bucket lift in the background. This "crane" is actually what is known as a "jib boom." Later a "Fordson" tractor, bolted to the dock, supplied the power through a 'power-take-off'. Also, in the background and to the left, you can see the little Model "T" gravity dump trucks that shuttled back and forth to the coal yard (where the Steamship Authority staging area is now). The coal barges came in to the south side of Union Wharf. [W. F. Renear]
