L. L. ALDRICH, [See
History]
Dealer in Auto and Bicycle Tires and Supplies, also Edison Phonographs and
Supplies,
Vineyard Haven, Mass.
Vineyard Haven has at least one important advantage over other summer resorts,
and that is that it is not necessary to bring along a lot of tires and supplies
in order to be sure of being able to get satisfactory articles in that line
during your vacation. All that is required is to use discrimination in the
choice of the dealer you patronize, and no mistake will be made if the orders
are placed with Mr. L. L. Aldrich, for he carries a large, varied and skilfully
selected stock of Automobiles and bicycle supplies, Edison machine and supplies
and a complete stock of the latest records always on hand, and is in a position
to suit all tastes and all purses. Mr. Aldrich carries a large stock of
automobile tires among which are the following: Goodrich, Fiske, Hartford,
Michelin, Diamond and Republic. The prices are "right" as well
as the goods, so satisfaction is assured to every customer. Bicycle repairing
is one of the important branches of the business.
W. E. GODFREY,
Clothing, Furnishings, Dry Goods, etc.
Vineyard Haven, and Edgartown, Mass.
Mr. W. E. Godfrey carries on one store at Vineyard Haven and another one
at Edgartown, and when it comes to opportunity to choose from a large complete
and most emphatically "up-to-date" stock of seasonable Clothing,
Furnishings, Hats, Caps and Gloves, Hosiery, Neckwear, Dressmakers' Materials,
Table Linen and countless other lines of goods it may be truly said that
you may "go a good deal further and fare a good deal worse." "Distance
lends enchantment to the view" in the minds of many people and they
are apt to believe that goods in the "big" stores in the "big"
cities are better or are offered at lower prices than those obtainable at
home. But such is by no means necessarily the case. Mr. Godfrey is trying
to keep the trade. on the Island, consequently, he cannot afford to have
dissatisfied customers and he knows that the only sure way to satisfy patrons
is to furnish reliable and up-to-date goods at bottom prices. That is precisely
what he does ? and the result is to be seen in an extensive and steadily
growing patronage.
L. ERNEST BRIGGS,
Watches, Clocks and jewelry, Kodaks and Supplies,
Vineyard Haven, Mass.
A very attractive stock is that carried by Mr. L. Ernest Briggs, and as
his prices are as satisfactory as his goods it necessarily follows that
his store is one of the most popular of the kind on the entire Island. The
stock is constantly in process of renewal and therefore is kept fully "up?to?date"
in every detail; and as the goods it comprises are obtained from the most
reliable sources they may be safely relied upon to prove precisely as represented.
The stock includes watches in all standard grades and in all the latest
styles, a full line of clocks, silver and plated ware in great variety,
jewelry of practically all kinds and "novelties" and "souvenirs"
in profusion. A specialty is made of watch and jewelry repairing, the work
being done in a thoroughly satisfactory manner and at reasonable rates.
F. 0. TILTON & CO.,
Lumber, Vineyard Haven, Mass.
There is no denying the fact that the present price of lumber is high, and
it is now even more' important than ever before to use discrimination in
the placing of orders. No house is better prepared to furnish thoroughly
satisfactory service to both large and small buyers than is that of F. 0.
Tilton & Co., who maintain a spacious and wellequipped lumber yard and
are in a position to fill even the most extensive orders at short notice.
They keep their stock as complete as possible in every department and therefore
are able to fill even unusual orders as a general thing without the annoying
delay that is apt to be experien ' ced when dealing with a less well?equipped
concern. The delivery facilities are excellent, and even the smallest order
is assured careful attention.
IDEAL BAKERY,
J. M. Andrews, Prop., Vineyard Haven, Mass.
A public bakery is a decided convenience at all times of the year but it
is certainly of especial benefit during the heated term for it obviates
the necessity of heating up the kitchen and adjoining rooms while cooking
bread, cake, pastry, doughnuts, etc. Of course there are some "bakers'
goods" which are so far inferior to those of home production that they
are not at all satisfactory, but such is far from being the case with the
goods produced at the bakery conducted by Mr. J. M. Andrews, on the contrary
they are good enough to suit the most fastidious?as is evidenced by the
character as well as by the extent of the patronage this bakery receives.
Mr. 'Andrews carries a very full line of bakers' goods and makes it an invariable
rule to offer nothing for sale that is not fresh and appetizing. His prices
are moderate and orders are assured prompt and careful attention.
T. W. TILTON & CO.,
Fire Insurance, Woodlawn Avenue, Vineyard Haven, Mass.
What everyone is looking for is "insurance that insures" at the
lowest possible cost; and as that is just the sort of insurance that the
house of T. W. Tilton & Co. are prepared to furnish, it naturally follows
that the facilities they offer are very largely and generally availed of.
The enterprise was established nearly a score of years ago, in 1891, and
its record is such as to commend it very highly to those who appreciate
the advantages of dealing with an insurance house whose name is associated
with the equitable adjustment and prompt payment of losses. Many of the
leading stock and mutual fire insurance companies are represented and the
firm is prepared to place either large or small lines of insurance to the
best possible advantage and at the shortest possible notice. Telephone 12-4.
