H. N. HINCKLEY,
Contractor and Builder,
Vineyard Haven, Mass.

The advantages gained by placing contracts for building work with a thoroughly responsible party are too obvious to require mention, so we will simply state that Mr. H. N. Hinckley is "responsible" in the best sense of the word and may be implicitly depended upon to observe the spirit as well as the letter of every contract into which he may enter. Not only is he prepared to figure very closely on plans an specifications and to carry them out to the best possible advantage, but he is also prepared to furnish them if desired; and as the plans and specifications furnished by Mr. Hinckley are the outcome of long and varied practical experience together with close study of local conditions it necessarily follows that they are thoroughly practical and therefore valuable. Mr. Hinckley has carried out some very important contracts and specimens of his work are to be found throughout this vicinity, among which may be mentioned the following and to whom he refers:
Mrs. S. Zorn, Mrs. Thomas H. Jolliffe, Walter I. Badger, C. N. Bovee, C. B. Gookin, Dr. Garry DeN Hough, John Pridgeon, Jr., H. 0. Phillips, C. A. Morse and P. L. Saltonstall.

H. L. FISHER,
Contractor and Builder,
Vineyard Haven, Mass.

It is even more important now than ever before to use careful discrimination in the placing of orders for the execution of building contracts, for the present high prices of material and labor render the avoidance of mistakes doubly important. Experience proves that one sure way to get satisfactory results is to make use of the facilities offered by H. L. Fisher, the builder, for he is experienced, skilled and reliable and has executed many commissions, to the entire satisfaction of all parties concerned. Estimates on building, alterations, extensions, etc., will be cheerfully and freely made on application, and Mr. Fisher is in a position to figure very closely on contracts for anything in his line. Prompt and painstaking attention is given to general jobbing, and employment is given to an ample force of competent assistants so that the work can be done without annoying delays as well as in a thoroughly satisfactory manner.

CHARLES E. F. BENSON,
Headquarters for Yachts, Boats and Boat Supplies*, Boats to Let, East Side of Harbor, near Cold Storage Plant, Vineyard Haven, Mass.

In addition to doing an extensive business as a dealer in paints, oils, varnishes and painters' supplies in general, Mr. Charles E. F. Benson carries on an enterprise which has made him very widely and favorably known to those interested in yachting and boating. He maintains yacht and boat ways conveniently located on the east side of the harbor near the cold storage plant, and makes a leading specialty of hauling up boats, repairing, painting and caring for them during the winter. It is unnecessary to dwell upon the importance and convenience of such an enterprise, especially when it is so managed that customers can safely depend upon finding their boats ready for use at the opening of the season in the best possible condition. Mr. Benson has row and sail boats to let at reasonable rates; and he also always has bargains for boat buyers on band, as he does an extensive business in the line of buying and selling boats on commission and renders service that is of great value both to those who wish to buy and those who wish to sell.

LOOK, SMITH & CO.,

An old established enterprise which is very widely and favorably known is that conducted by Messrs. Look, Smith & Co., who not only utilize spacious premises at Vineyard Haven, but also maintain a first-class store at Edgartown. They deal very largely in meats, groceries and provisions of all kinds, together with hay, grain and feed of every description, and have a well-earned reputation for always being in a position to furnish such goods in quantities to suit at prices in strict accordance with the lowest prevailing rates, quality considered. The stock is exceptionally complete and it is an actual fact that "all tastes and all purses" can be suited at this popular establishment.

C. E. F. BENSON & CO.,
Pool and Billiard Room, Cigars, Confectionery, etc.,
Main Street, Vineyard Haven, Mass.

If a vote were to be taken to see which was the most universally popular establishment at Vineyard Haven it is safe to say that a large proportion of the total number of ballots would be cast for the establishment conducted by Messrs. C. E. F. Benson & Co., for there is no denying the fact that it holds a very high place in public favor. It is centrally located on Main Street, is spacious and well equipped and is conducted in such a manner as to commend it highly to those who are what is called a little "select" in their tastes. One department of the business is the maintenance of a first?class pool and billiard room; another is the sale of fruits, confectionery, soda water, cigars, tobacco, etc. The service in either department is thoroughly satisfactory, and as the charges are moderate it is easy to see why "Benson's" is a prime favorite with the people.
