ELIZA B. LUCE,
1823 - 1903.
Eliza Butler Luce was the daughter of Rebecca Crowell and George Luce. (See Banks III, p. 123 for more about this family.) She was born in Edgartown, but spent most of her life as a Holmes Hole tailoress. She evidently lived near South Main Street, and in 1897 her residence was listed as "The Causeway" - probably Causeway Road. She never married.
Eliza died of a cerebral hemorrhage on 19 Feb 1903, aged 79 years, 2 months, and 29 days.
