Barzilla Crowell was the son of Samuel and Mary (Luce) Crowell. He was an Edgartown laborer. Banks notes that "he served in the Sea Coast Defense 1776 and was captured and confined in Mill Prison, Plymouth, Eng. 1777."
See The Crowell Family of Martha's Vineyard for more information about his family.
